Hello, you fabulous Wellbeing Explorer!

Summer is a time for PEAK ENERGY and inviting passion, growth, exuberance and youthfulness. Use the next few months to feel freedom in your expression, release all your pent up stress and energy, and flow with the natural liveliness, enthusiasm and expansion of this colourful and joyful season.

Below are 20 of my top tips, ideas and practices for self-care to boost your health and happiness this season.

Don’t forget the Wellbeing Explorers Self Care DEFINITION:

Boost your health and happiness with summertime self-care:

  1. Take a barefoot walk in nature

  2. Write a gratitude journal

  3. Schedule time for daydreaming

  4. Practice the Wellbeing Explorers check ins

  5. Practice mindfulness in your activities e.g. when brushing your teeth, washing the dishes, eating

  6. Go on an adventure

  7. Energise, cleanse and boost with some natural, ice cold drinks. I love to put frozen summer berries in water, squeeze in some lime and dress with fresh mint.

  8. Practice acceptance with your body. Let go of the illusion it could have been any different. Honour and celebrate your body for what you can do.

  9. Feel freedom in your expression; dance, sing, skip

  10. Explore and connect to your local areas. Walk somewhere new, look out for the little things that bring joy and that are full of life (like flowers and insects)

  11. Reach out and connect with other people. Summer is a fantastic time to feel more extroverted and enjoy community.

  12. Get some vitamin D! Spend some time safely in the sunshine to boost your mood and your health (but not too much – take care of your skin!)

  13. Practice your wake up ritual;

    Smile (20 seconds)

Set intentions for the emotional states of being you want to cultivate today (30 seconds)

Sit up and take three deep, long intentional breaths (40 seconds)

Stand up and do "Tits and Teeth" (30 seconds) (follow this link for tits and teeth)

  14. Create your JOY music playlist, for those sweet summer feel good tunes.

  15. Take a technology fast. Put your screen’s down! Plan for a daily chunk of time to be outside or away from technology (ensure you will not be distracted or disturbed), or take a full few days away to be wild, free and connect to the rhythms of summer.

  16. Spend time near water and feel the benefits of fresh, cool natural water to soothe, bring clarity and carry your stress away with the flow.

  17. Practice deep and powerful breathing to energise, cool and create flow in your body. For example, seek out a pranayama yoga teacher or send me a message for some tips!

  18. Drink lots of cool refreshing water

  19. Invite play, laugher and FUN into your self-care practice. Write down 10 funny things that happened in your day or from a memory of a past time. Spend a few minutes reflecting on these and really remember all the feelings and savour the joy! What it was like to FEEL those emotions!

  20. Make smiling the FIRST thing you do when you wake up in the morning. Spend the first MINUTE of your day smiling to set yourself up for JOY.

Invite yourself to reflect on the Wellbeing Explorers Self-care intention/ mantra:

What is the best way to support my wellbeing to ensure I am engaged, connected, strong in myself and health and be able to serve others?

Self-reflection questions:

  • How can I invite more JOY, OPENNESS, FREEDOM, and PLAY into my life?

  • Where am I feeling low energy in my health and happiness? How can I switch these low moments into OPPORTUNITIES to supercharge my energy and wellbeing? What mindset shifts or behavioural changes need to happen?

  • What can I do to PRIORITISE MY SELF-CARE this season?

  • How can I deeply CONNECT to myself, others and the environment?

Let me know what self-care practices you are committed to implementing the next few months.
