Adventure with Emma
I have been working in the outdoor industry since 2009. Adventure has been a part of my whole life, but it has manifested in different ways. As children, we travelled to exciting places, and were blessed by parents who wanted to show my brother and me different cultures and experiences. However, I had to push hard to really be accepted into the outdoor space.
Being outside is where my soul comes alive. There is no more powerful a place for self-exploration than in the mountains, taking a quiet walk along the beach, rafting down a jungle river or galloping on a horse through the Mongolian steppe. It is where I come home to myself and can be grounded in this crazy world.
I use nature and adventure as the activity but also the medium through which I facilitate your learning and growth. I love working with people in the outdoors. If you are working with me in a multidimensional approach to wellbeing, we can take our positive psychology coaching sessions outside; go for a hike in the hills or a walk in the forest. Sit in the mountains and amongst the trees and talk. We can use adventure sports as a metaphor, to challenge yourself by putting learning into practice. For example, we can go rock climbing to focus your mind or to push your boundaries.
I also use adventure sports in our expeditions and for corporate clients. These trips are designed to be challenging yet rewarding, with a challenge by choice ethos. You will not be forced to do anything too much outside your comfort zone, however, you will be encouraged and supported to new levels of learning and exploration. Our expeditions are by design exciting and adventurous and often to extreme, wilderness environments, and are paired with workshops and learning to support you to reach your goals and for a fully transformational experience. As an outdoor leader my principal responsibilities and objectives are for safety, first aid, education and entertainment. I am constantly working with risk management and am resourceful, flexible, and safety conscious (making dynamic risk assessments). I have responded to many first aid incidents including evacuations in thunderstorms with a broken collarbone in the wilderness, and broken limbs, lacerations, burns in the back country and everything in between! You are in safe hands! Note we will avoid injury, but accidents can happen, whether you are sitting in a room doing a workshop or climbing a mountain.
Be inspired to get outside, move your body, challenge yourself, get muddy and bruised, tire yourself out from running around and letting the wind blow through your hair and feel the earth under your feet. This is where we truly strip back all of the layers of modern life and delve into the freedom of connection to nature. Where we belong. Learn to play again, feel alive like you did as a kid playing outside in the rain, and live an adventurous and energised life.
Qualifications: I am hiking and trekking leader; Summer Mountain Leader (UK), an indoor rock climbing instructor; Climbing Wall Award (UK) and am a highly qualified (and experienced) first aider; Wilderness First Responder (WEMSI) & REC 2.
