The benefits of self-compassion in the research and thousands of years of Buddhist teachings are clear; self-compassion is a superpower. The objectives for our ‘Self-compassion: Superhero Superpower Workshop’ are to are to learn about self-compassion and how to use this as a superpower in our modern lives to take charge of your mind and become a self-compassionate superhero!

  • Learn the modern research on self-compassion and discuss Buddhist ideas of suffering and how they relate to self-compassion

  • Compassionately explore your body and movement through yoga. Treat your body with loving-kindness and be compassionate with where you are.

  • Learn about mindfulness and learn meditations to focus your mind

  • Practice and learn about self-kindness

  • Explore common humanity and how to find comfort in the experience of others

  • Set intentions, formulate goals and action plan for including self-compassion in your wellbeing practice

Example itinerary

09.30 – 10.15: Welcome, refreshments, introductions and icebreakers

10.15 – 11.15: Embodiment yoga session – self-compassionately explore your body in the flow of movement

11.15 – 11.30: Break

11.30 – 12.45: Workshop session 1 – Introduction to self-compassion. Understand modern knowledge and ancient Buddhist teachings on self-compassion and suffering. Discuss the three aspects; self-kindness, mindfulness and common humanity.

12.45 – 13.30: Lunch*

13.30 – 14.15: Workshop session 2 – Self-kindness. Practices on how to implement self-kindness in our lives

14.15 – 14.30: Break

14.30 – 15.00: Workshop session 3 – Learn practices to implement a feeling of common humanity

15.00 – 15.30: Workshop session 4 – Mindfulness and Meditation

15.30 – 15.45: Break

15.30 – 16.00: Intention setting, formulate your goals and action plan for self-compassion.

16.00 – 16.15: Final meditation and self-reflection

16.15 – 16.30: Review and close
